Speaking last Thursday night in Cane Garden Bay at the first such meeting, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Irad Potter and Roy Barry, who heads the NHI division of the Social Security Board, said residents should learn all they can about the programme and voice any concerns. “We invite you to note your questions and send them in to us,” Dr. Potter said. “We don’t want any unanswered questions.” Based on residents’ concerns, Mr. Barry added, officials can recommend changes to the draft NHI legislation, which is set to come into effect in time to launch the new programme in August.
