A Virgin Islands delegation will present five papers at the Fourth Caribbean Geographical Information System (GIS) Conference in the Cayman Islands later this summer, according to Government Information Services. Chief Planner Louis Potter said the conference’s objectives include: Sharing experiences with GIS implementation and management issues; fostering a Caribbean GIS network; and establishing new relationships within the vendor/consultant community.

"This is a good opportunity for our officers learn about new and emerging trends in GIS technology and applications. Exposure like this will strengthen the work that we perform," Mr. Potter said.

Lisa Kay Lewis, national GIS coordinator in the Town and Country Planning Department, will lead a local team to the Aug. 25-26 conference, which is coordinated by the United States-based Urban and Regional Information Systems Association.
