Police have confirmed that one man was left in critical condition after a shooting incident, which took place at Crab Lot, a community in Upper Main Street, on Sunday night.

A 26-year-old Long Bush man, whose name police have not released, was transported to the hospital shortly before 8 p.m. after receiving several gun shot wounds to his upper body and one to his jaw.

After undergoing surgery, his condition was described as critical but stable, according to police.

Police are holding one man, who is assisting in the investigation.

That man has not been charged or arrested, according to an unofficial police source close to the investigation, who confirmed that no firearm was recovered at the scene.

The source also said that the shooting appeared to be premeditated, but added there was no indication at this time this shooting was linked to any of the murders that have taken place on Tortola this year.

This is the first non-fatal shooting this year.
