Five people were arrested on Tuesday in relation to the 2008 murder of Donna Baronville, according to police. As of Beacon deadline, no charges had been laid against the five, and police had not yet disclosed their names.

According to police, the “four males and one female are now being questioned by detectives of the Anti-Drug and Violent Crime Task Force.”

It was almost two years ago that Ms. Baronville was shot to her death on the balcony of her home at Eliot Hodge apartments in Free Bottom.

The February murder — the first of 2008 — would mark the start of the bloodiest year in recent memory in the Virgin Islands. Seven more murders would follow.

The full story appears in the Nov. 26, 2009 issue.
