SoftballThe Lady Rams won its first championship title last week during the Raymon “Jackson” Smith Memorial Fast Pitch League at the Old Recreation Grounds against the defending champions, the Amazons, 20-3. The Rams had 12 hits, no errors and left 10 runners on base. Kennisha Powell was the winning pitcher. Top hitters were Ivy Fahie who went 3 for 6 with 2 RBIs. Darier Malone went 1 or 4 with a grand slam and six RBIs. The Amazons had one hit by Shakeria Skelton. The team committed eight errors and left four on base. On Friday night, the East Invaders and Hurricane championship game was not played due to a protest by the Hurricanes. The teams said the East Invaders had illegally substituted players who were already in the game. The Hurricanes would win the appeal and the game will be replayed on Friday starting in the third inning when the score was 2-1. Strangely enough, game four was played on Sunday. The East Invaders won, 5-3. The East Invaders had 10 hits and three errors. Nateshan Thomas went 3 for 3 with an inside the park home run and Mahal de Castro went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a home run in the win. Hurricane’s Kye Rymer went 4 for 4 with two runs scored.
